Winter Driving Tips
Remove ice and snow from all windows, mirrors and lights. Do not forget to remove snow from roof and hood of the car as well.
Check your tyres. Make sure you have adequate tread on your tyres and check their pressure. Note that all-season tyres are NOT neccessarily winter tyres.
Skidding. Try to avoid accelarting top hard and keep it as smooth as possible, which also applies to braking and steering. If your car starts to skit, it is recommended that you gently lift off accelerator and turn into direction of skid.
Change your oil. Fill your engine with oil of lower viscosity. The number before the W represents viscoisty, so for example 5W-30 has lower viscosity than 10Q-40.
Do not get in a car with someone who has never driven in snow before.
Keep your distance. Make sure to have appropriate distance from car infront of you. Stay 200 meters away from snow plows.
Avoid cruise control in icy, wet or snow conditions to maintain control of accelaration and deceleration at all times.
